I don't know why but I love books about post-apocalypse, dystopian societies so when I heard about
The Hunger Games I was really excited. And
dude OMG, I had every right to be. Not only did this book continue to keep me excited through out it but it basically made me cry and also laugh and I was really happy with it. And it also kept me at the edge of my seat too, which you know helps.
So I'm going to review it for ya, okay? Good.
Summary: Meet Katniss Everdeen, basic breadwinner for her family since her father died, she lives in the Seam, the poor area of town, in District 12 of Panem. Panem is the ruins of America and from what I can tell District 12 is the New York area. There's twelve districts of Panem and a capitol. Katniss's district makes coal, and her father died in a mining accident.
Every year the capitol forces the kids of each district to partake in a reaping, where each kid from age 12 to 18 has their names put into a pot and two names are chosen to be the tributes of their districts. The tributes go on to The Hunger Games, a sadistic and gruesome kind of battle where the kids have to kill each other off. (Seriously at this part I was having flashbacks to All Hell Breaks Loose Pt. 1 and 2) Katniss has her name in the pot twenty-four times. Her little sister, Prim, has it in once. The odds are that if anyone were to be chosen, it were to be Katniss. But fate does not like Katniss Everdeen and her sister gets chosen. As is customary in the games, a person does get to volunteer to go in place for the other chosen. (At this I was thinking of my own story Drawing Straws) Katniss of course goes in her sister's place. And then starts Katniss's journey. She becomes known as the "Girl who was on fire" and She has to try to survive against Career tributes, kids who are trained their whole lives for the games, and Peeta Mellark, who she can’t help feeling like she owes him.

This book was amazing, so amazing. I adored it. I loved how protective Katniss was over Prim and I loved Katniss in general. So much better than Bella. This book was just great.
And it has a sequel coming out in September and a movie coming out I don't know when. But the author is writing the adaption, which is promising and LionsGate has the rights. That makes me excited.
So yeah, I recommend this book to anyone looking for something to read! It was amazing. Funny, sad, and it made me angry at this government that doesn't even exist. Just awesome.
Got anything that you read was amazing too? Let me know!
